You must consult the PHP mistake log to know what is going on here. I am wondering about the upgrade process employed based on the issue summary. The usual procedure is to update files en-masse.

JMOmandown's picture

Have same outcome. Was there a solution or did yous revert?

JMOmandown's picture

After applying the core patch from https://www.drupal.org/node/2786443, I was able to get a more than detailed error message relating to the update. The update and so throws the fault:

RuntimeException: Unable to make up one's mind course for field type 'accost' found in the 'field.storage.profile.accost' configuration in Drupal\field\FieldStorageConfigStorage->mapFromStorageRecords() (line 157 of core/modules/field/src/FieldStorageConfigStorage.php).

After updating a requirement for commerce and the addressing module in composer, the detailed error was cleared out. Now I simply have an unexpected error bulletin with no details.

cilefen's picture

If in that location is a 500 fault something is logged.

JMOmandown's picture

cilefen. That is truthful, even so the log nor any page can be reached. They all generate an unexpected error with no additional data. I have checked the database and cannot find sufficient information in watchdog to attempt to back trace the issue.

MaskyS's picture

Howdy, take you tried to revert your alter and so accessing your log again?

cilefen's picture

You must check the web server error log.

At the moment I am getting the error in both Safari and Firefox: "The website encountered an unexpected error. Delight endeavor over again later."

Chrome is not experiencing the error and I am able to see my error logs:

As suspected, after clearing the cache and restarting Chrome, I can no longer access the website. I get the same error.
I do promise that the reports to a higher place assist in finding a resolution to getting this version updated.

Thanks so much for you support with this issue.

So I was able to prepare my issue. Plainly there were several tables which did non brand it properly through the needed updates. Have you attempted to update off a clean database? If y'all are able, which again was the case for us, then you could drift the data after the fact to friction match the correct format.

gchalker@princeton.edu's picture

I did the install again. Currently I have the Fault log page open:

It has too logs:

Bulletin UnexpectedValueException: External URLs do not take an internal route name. in Drupal\Core\Url->getRouteName() (line 554 of /dwelling house/geowebonstott/public_html/core/lib/Drupal/Core/Url.php).
Severity Error
Hostname 128.112.21.175

Getting this mistake on the homepage:
The website encountered an unexpected fault. Please endeavour over again later on.

I take attached an screen shot of the list of errors.

Please advise on what to exercise next.

In the update procedure information technology talks about updating the settings.php page with the data from the default.settings.php, listed below. Is that a process that needs to be done?
Or do you lot come across another consequence?

  • "Sometimes an update includes changes to default.settings.php (this volition exist noted in the release notes). If that's the example, follow these steps:
  • Locate your settings.php file in the /sites/* directory. (Typically sites/default.)
  • Make a backup copy of your settings.php file, with a dissimilar file name.
  • Make a copy of the new default.settings.php file, and proper noun the re-create settings.php (overwriting your previous settings.php file).
  • Re-create the custom and site-specific entries from the backup you made into the new settings.php file. Y'all will definitely need the lines giving the database information, and y'all will also want to re-create in any other customizations you lot take added."

Thanks for your quick response @cilefen. Great that is proficient news that I do not need the extra pace.

In my module folder on the installation-root: admin toolbar, nugget injector, contri, libraries, superfish, and weight are listed.
Do you think it has something to do with the libraries? Did I read in the notes that they accept been moved?

Much appreciated, thousand.yard

cilefen's picture

The last time with the aforementioned error information technology was superfish, if retentivity serves.

gchalker@princeton.edu's picture

I had an issue with Superfish not exist in order in the dropdown. That was in a different thread.
What would be an advisable way to fix this? Would I loose my menu if I disable it to exam?
Or should I simply rewrite the module files?

Cheers for the reminder. Let me try that one time again. I thought my issue was with Biblio at the time.
I took off all instances, but had another site with Biblio. Will written report back if this works.

Closing this mystery. Catastrophe with a BIG Fat Thank you!

Later on thinking my update issue was new, it turned out to be a duplicate effect with Superfish and the Drupal viii.2.5 update. This patch instantly solved my problem.
Thanks yous and then much! Now I can go nearly my progress work instead of returning back to this issue.

We must evidence the item of error first. After that will know how to fix.
I copy here FYI grade https://drupal.stackexchange.com/questions/49905/the-website-encountered...

"If using drush, just do: drush vset error_level 1.

Otherwise, go to /admin/config/development/logging and change the setting to "Errors and Warnings"

Drupal 8

Instead of drush vset/vget/vdel, you can apply cset/cget/cdel for config values and sset/sget/sdel for state values."

I have done a Backup restore on from my Drupal 8.2.x website and database, and now I can access just the front end folio. If I click whatsoever other folio I get the error that

I've revolved via this beast force method, virtually the concluding steps earlier wiping a big D8 site. After upgrading an existing site's core to D8.l, I got the dreaded "The website encountered an unexpected error. Please try once more later.". The solution that worked in many cases, including this 1 was appending site.com/install.php After [enter], the site firsthand launches the blueish UI, in the site.com/update.php page, allowing to continue on with the upgrade process. If you look your filesystem discover that several folders and file's permissions get flipped after running install/update multiple times after encountering the "The website encountered an unexpected error" error. Good luck!

Maplinx's picture

Ran into like problem later on installing D five viii.5.1. Was unable to run settings on a sub_theme installation, also could not run update.php stalled by error bulletin "The website encountered an unexpected error. Delight endeavor once more later on." Thank you to @maine_inventor #26 whose suggstion to attempt running "site.com/install.php" helped as it revealed the culprit module 'Folio Manager' in my example. Uninstalling resolved the outcome. By the style I too realised that upgrading php from 5.six to v7.i in php manager (root access) triggerred like fault message. My understanding was that D v 8.5.1 was meant to run on php v7>. I may be missing something here.

Getting bulletin "The website encountered an unexpected error. Please try again later."on an upgrade from eight.4->eight.v

After uninstalling module "Page Manager" as @Maplinx wrote, the problem is resolved.

JM_Choi's picture

I had the aforementioned trouble of the white page maxim "The website encountered an unexpected error. Please try again subsequently.". I checked cPanel and it says ea-php56 (inherited). Surprisingly drupal 8.6 installations went through that is why I did not notice in the starting time place. At that place should be waring or something proverb " Sir you are installing Drupa 8 in a organisation of PHP 5.6 version, PHP 7.0 or college is recommended during the installation phase, Not THE AFTERWARD". Yeah, it was I went to WHM inverse the default PHP to 7.0 simply still, the problem persists. I had to uninstall Drupal 8 and reinstall under PHP vii.0.

You know this reminds me of a disquisitional software design issue. if Drupal core is not checking its environment like PHP it will e'er be a problem every time cadre updates because PHP version would be an old one and updating PHP afterward doesn't affect existing Drupal cadre.

Promise my mail helps someone in a similar case.
